Oromia is a region which
is suitable for farming. Has extensive irrigable land. For the region is endowed
with diverse agro-ecological zones, crops of any types can be grown on a
commercial scale farming. The region also has broad genetic diversity amongst
its coffee varieties. These varieties of coffee have there own unique.

aromatic flavor about nine different bean varieties are cultivated; all having
their own distinctive tastes, sizes shapes and colours.
Oromia is also blessed
with suitable ecology to grow both its indigenous or exotic spices in small or
large commercial scales.
Besides, the region is
also considered as one of the best quality flower producing African countries
although the culture of producing and exporting it is still at its infant stage.
As of recent times, few companies have invested in the sector and have began
showing promising results in producing and exporting very limited volume and

As regards forest
development, the region is naturally ch3rished with fertile soil, favorable
climate and water to facilitate the growth of forest. So far, five percent of
its land surface is covered with natural forest. According to documents, about
21,503 hectares of land is readily available for forestry development. In
Illubabor zone alone, about 4,651 hectares of land has been identified suitable
for commercial rubber plantation and is awaiting interested investors.
Further more, about 52
percent of the country’s livestock resource is found in Oromia region. However,
this unexploited lucrative potential calls for investors to develop the sector
and benefit both the country and the investors themselves.
Oromia’s annual fish
production potential is estimated at 17,500 tons. The region’s several rivers
and lakes are rich resource sites for fishery development. Tilapia, catfish,
barbus and cyprinoids are some of the species that can attract the attention of
investors for modern fishery development.
